Sudip Ranjan Hatua, Ph.D.

Dr. Sudip Ranjan Hatua, an alumnus of the DRTC (ISI, Bangalore), is currently a Professor in Library and Information Science and the Head of the Department of Library and Information Science at Rabindra Bharati University. He brings 20 years of academic experience and 6 years of professional practice in the field of library and information science. Prior to joining Rabindra Bharati University as a Lecturer, he served at the National Aerospace Laboratory (Bangalore), Karshak Engineering College (Hyderabad), and the Central Library of the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. He earned his PhD from Vidyasagar University under the supervision of Professor Devika Madalli, who is presently the Director of INFLIBNET and a member of the Board of Directors at ORCID. Dr. Hatua has authored more than 90 scholarly publications at both national and international levels, including five textbooks and reference books. His research interests encompass knowledge organization, information retrieval, digital libraries, metadata standards, and the evolving paradigms of multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary research. To date, nine research scholars have been awarded PhDs under his supervision, and six are currently pursuing their research.
