Sudip Ranjan Hatua, Ph.D.

I was born and brought up in a village in the Paschim Medinipore district of West Bengal, India, near the birthplace of the great Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar. I completed my 10th Standard at Panchberia Ramchandra Smrity Siksha Mandir and my 12th Standard at Sonakahali High School. I earned a B.Sc. degree from City College, University of Calcutta, with a focus on Economics, Mathematics, and Physics. I then pursued Special Honours and a Master’s degree (MA) in Economics, as well as a Bachelor of Library & Information Science from Rabindra Bharati University.

I further advanced my academic credentials by completing the Associateship in Documentation and Information Science (ADIS) course from the Documentation Research and Training Center (DRTC), Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Bangalore, between 1999 and 2001. I earned my PhD in 2009 from Vidya Sagar University under the supervision of Professor Devika P. Madalli.

My professional career began as a Project Assistant at ICAST, National Aerospace Laboratory (NAL), Bangalore, and later as a Librarian at Karshak Engineering College, Hyderabad. I also served as a Technical Assistant at the Central Library of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur. Transitioning from administrative roles to academia, I joined the Department of Library & Information Science at Rabindra Bharati University in 2006, where I continue to contribute to the field as a faculty, having spent many years as a student at the institution. Since 2021 I have become a Professor in this field.

My educational journey and professional experience have had a significant impact on my field, particularly in Library & Information Science.
